Ill. Admin. Code tit. 35, § 820.305 – Closure

a) Within 30 days after the date the GCDD recovery facility receives the final load of GCDD, the owner or operator must begin closure activities and submit to the Agency a notice of closure.
b) During closure, all GCDD and all other materials at the GCDD recovery facility must be removed to an appropriately permitted transfer, treatment, storage, or disposal facility.
c) The owner or operator must complete closure activities for the GCDD recovery facility within 180 days after the beginning of closure unless the Agency grants an extension of the closure period. The Agency may grant an extension of the closure period if the owner or operator demonstrates that:
1. 1) closure cannot be practicably completed within 180 days after the beginning of closure; and
2. 2) the owner or operator has taken and will continue to take all necessary steps to prevent threats to human health and the environment from the unclosed facility.
