For purposes of this chapter:

1. 1. “Department” means the department of education.
2. 2. “Director” means the director of the department of education.
3. 3. “President” means the president of the university of northern Iowa.
4. 4. “Research and development school” means a prekindergarten through grade twelve research, development, demonstration, and dissemination school using expanded facilities at the center for early development education, also known as the Price laboratory school, in Cedar Falls.
5. 5. “University” means the university of northern Iowa.
