Neither the ombudsman nor any member of the staff shall:

1. 1. Hold another public office of trust or profit under the laws of this state other than notary public as provided in chapter 9B.
2. 2. Engage in other employment for remuneration with an agency against which a complaint may be filed under this chapter or that could create a conflict of interest or interfere in the performance of the person’s duties under this chapter.
3. 3. Knowingly engage in or maintain any business transactions with persons employed by agencies against whom complaints may be made under the provisions of this chapter.
4. 4. Be actively involved in partisan affairs.
