Severability and characterization

  1. (1) If any provision of this chapter or its application to any particular person or circumstance is held invalid, that provision or its application shall be deemed severable and shall not affect the validity of other provisions or applications of this chapter.
  2. (2) If in any arbitral, judicial, or other official proceeding within or without this state it shall become necessary to classify any provision of this chapter as substantive or procedural within the meaning of those terms in the conflict of laws, all provisions of this chapter relating to the obligation of the parties to arbitrate, to the conduct of the arbitral proceedings, and to the validity of arbitral awards shall be classified as substantive.
