Fla. Stat. § 341.501
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Department of Transportation may enter into a joint project agreement with, or otherwise assist, private or public entities, or consortia thereof, to facilitate the research, development, and demonstration of high-technology transportation systems, including, but not limited to, systems using magnetic levitation technology. The provisions of the Florida High-Speed Rail Transportation Act, ss. 341.3201-341.386, do not apply to actions taken under this section, and the department may, subject to s. 339.135, provide funds to match any available federal aid for effectuating the research, development, and demonstration of high-technology transportation systems.
