1. (1) It is the policy of the state to admit members into the home without regard to race, age, sex, creed, religion, national origin, or any other reason that would thereby create a practice of discrimination. However, an applicant's veteran status shall not constitute discrimination.

2. (2) To be eligible for residency in the home, a veteran shall:

   1. (a) Have wartime or peacetime service as defined in ss. 1.01(14) and 296.02.
   2. (b) Have been a resident of the state for 3 years immediately preceding application and be a resident of the state at the time of application.
   3. (c) Not be mentally ill, habitually inebriated, or addicted to drugs.
