Such training programs shall include, at a minimum, the following learning objectives:
- (1) Defining Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
- (2) Describing the epidemiology of SIDS.
- (3) Describing the physical features of an infant who has died of SIDS.
- (4) Describing the circumstances associated with a SIDS death.
- (5) Identifying the activities the emergency responder initiates.
- (6) Describing the varied responses of SIDS families to sudden infant death.
- (7) Responding to SIDS families in a sensitive manner.
- (8) Describing the varied emotional reactions of emergency responders to sudden infant death.
- (9) Identifying ways emergency responders may cope with their own critical incident stress.
- (10) Identifying the community resources available to SIDS families.
