1. (1) Each male mixed martial arts participant shall wear the following:

   1. (a) Shorts approved by the executive director or his or her designee;
   2. (b) A groin protector, or protective cup, which shall be in place before entering the ring;
   3. (c) Knee or ankle support that is form-fitting with no rigid structural or abrasive materials is optional;
   4. (d) An individually fitted mouthpiece, which mouthpiece shall be in the participant’s mouth at all times during the fight period of each round. Participants shall have a second mouthpiece ringside ready for use at all times during the match.

2. (2) Each female mixed martial arts participant shall wear the following:

   1. (a) A close fitting tank, halter type top, or other close fitting secure top that prevents injury such as a sports bra;
   2. (b) Shorts approved by the executive director or his or her designee;
   3. (c) An individually fitted mouthpiece shall be in the participant’s mouth at all times during the fight period of each round. Participants shall have a second mouthpiece ringside ready for use at all times during the match;
   4. (d) Knee or ankle support that is form-fitting with no rigid structural or abrasive materials is optional;
   5. (e) Breast protectors are optional;
   6. (f) A protective cup or protective pelvic girdle to cover the pubic area, ovaries, coccyx and sides of the hips is optional.

3. (3) Prohibited apparel:

   1. (a) Eyeglasses are prohibited. Mixed martial arts participants shall wear soft contact lenses only if needed;
   2. (b) Any type of apparel with metal straps or buckles;
   3. (c) Necklaces or any other type of jewelry;
   4. (d) Shoes.
