1312.1 Consistent with the interests of the University, leave-without-pay may be granted, at the request of the employee, in the following circumstances:

1. (a) When vacation and sick leave have been exhausted due to a long period of illness;
2. (b) For educational purposes which are determined to be in the best interests of the employee or the University; and
3. (c) When leave is for Worker's Compensation purposes.
