5834.1 In order for a Diversion Payment to be issued for a covered need, the applicant shall verify the cost of the covered need. The Department shall instruct the applicant of the documentation required to reasonably verify the cost of the covered need. This documentation shall include one, or more, of the following:

1. (a) A bill for the amount of motor vehicle insurance, rental arrearage, utility arrearage, professional licenses and fees, work clothes and work tools;
2. (b) Two (2) written estimates, where feasible, for motor vehicle repair, work clothes, work tools, etc. if the amount of the covered need is over three hundred dollars ($ 300.00); and
3. (c) One (1) written estimate for motor vehicle repair, work clothes, work tools, etc. if the amount of the covered need is under three hundred dollars ($ 300.00).

5834.2 When a bill is submitted to document the cost of a covered need, the Department shall verify or estimate the amount of the bill.
