D.C. Mun. Regs. tit. 29, § 2825
2825.1 For purposes of matching a birth and death certificate, the following information about the decedent shall be provided to the Registrar so that it may be compared to the information on the birth certificate:
2825.2 No match shall be made unless there is documented proof of the fact of death.
2825.3 To implement a match, the date of death, the place (jurisdiction) where death occurred, and the death certificate number may be posted on the birth certificate.
2825.4 The birth certificate shall be marked to indicate the fact of death.
