2813.1 An authorization for disinterment and reinterment of a dead body shall be issued by the Registrar upon receipt of an application which meets the requirements of § 2813.2 or upon receipt of an order of a D.C. Court directing the action.

2813.2 An application for disinterment and reinterment shall be:

1. (a) Signed by the next of kin or legal representative of the deceased and by the person who is in charge of the disinterment; and
2. (b) Approved by the Director of the Department of Health.

2813.3 The application shall specify the place of disinterment and reinterment.

2813.4 A dead body properly prepared by an embalmer and deposited in a receiving vault shall not be considered a disinterment when removed from the vault for final disposition.
