6112.1 Each program shall develop guidelines to assess whether a program participant:

1. (a) Has the ability to self-administer his or her medications;
2. (b) Requires the prescribed medication to be administered by a trained medication employee; or
3. (c) Requires the prescribed medication to be administered by a licensed practical or registered nurse.

6112.2 The program shall monitor each program participant's ability to self-medicate as follows:

1. (a) A registered nurse shall annually review the program participant's ability to self-administer medication correctly and document the program participant's ability to continue self-medication in the participant's records.
2. (b) A trained medication employee shall review the program participant's ability to self-administer medication at least quarterly and document the program participant's ability to self-administer medication as prescribed.
