1. (a) Notice shall be deemed to be served properly on the date when mailed by first-class mail to the owner of record of the vacant building at the owner's mailing address as updated in the real property tax records of the Office of Tax and Revenue, or when effectuated in the manner provided in § 42-3131.03.
2. (b) In addition to furnishing notice in accordance with subsection (a) of this section, the Mayor shall cause notice to be posted on the premises.
3. (c) A courtesy copy of the notice provided pursuant to subsection (a) of this section shall be mailed or electronically mailed to the Advisory Neighborhood Commission in which the vacant building is located. The courtesy copy required by this subsection shall not be construed to satisfy, nor be construed as necessary to satisfy, the notice requirement of subsection (a) of this section.

Effect of Amendments

The 2016 amendment by D.C. Law 21-78 substituted “Notice of the initial vacant or blighted property determination shall also be posted on the vacant building” for “Notice shall also be posted on the vacant building” in the last sentence.

Applicability

Applicability of D.C. Law 22-287: § 8 of D.C. Law 22-287 provided that the change made to this section by § 4(c) of D.C. Law 22-287 is subject to the inclusion of the law’s fiscal effect in an approved budget and financial plan. Therefore that amendment has not been implemented.

Section 7132 of D.C. Law 24-167 amended D.C. Law 22-287 removing the applicability provision impacting this section. Therefore the amendment of this section by section 4(c) of Law 22-287 has been implemented.
