1. (a) The practice guidelines governing drugs and medications shall provide for legal authorization, storage, administration, and record keeping, including requiring that:

   1. (1) Medications be ordered by a certified-nurse midwife, CPM, certified midwife, physician, or other member of the staff who is licensed to write such orders;
   2. (2) Medication orders be recorded in the patient-client's chart and signed by the ordering person with his or her full signature; and
   3. (3) Medications be administered by a physician, nurse midwife, CPM, certified midwife, registered nurse or licensed practical nurse and in accordance with the approved practice guidelines by the Board of Medicine.

Applicability of D.C. Law 23-97: § 6 of D.C. Law 23-97 provided that the creation of this section by § 2(e) of D.C. Law 23-97 is subject to the inclusion of the law’s fiscal effect in an approved budget and financial plan. Therefore that amendment has not been implemented.
