1. (a) The Regulations of the Department of Administrative Services, this section and sections 29-291a-2a to 29-291a-10a, inclusive, of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies and their adopted standards, shall be known as the Connecticut State Fire Prevention Code, hereinafter referred to as “the code” or “this code”.

   1. (1) Severability. If a section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this code is, for any reason, held to be unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this code.
   2. (2) Validity. In the event any part or provision of this code is held to be illegal or void, this shall not have the effect of making void or illegal any of the other parts or provisions hereof, which are determined to be legal; and it shall be presumed that this code would have been adopted without such illegal or invalid parts or provisions.
2. (b) This section and sections 29-291a-2a to 29-291a-10a, inclusive, of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies shall be administered as provided in Chapter 541 of the Connecticut General Statutes.
3. (c) The provisions of this section and sections 29-291a-2a to 29-291a-10a, inclusive, of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies shall not apply to any federal agency performing construction or operating on federally owned land or on leased land totally under the control of the federal government.
4. (d) The provisions of this section and sections 29-291a-2a to 29-291a-10a, inclusive, of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies shall not apply to detached one- and two-family dwellings nor to multiple single-family dwellings attached side-by-side (townhouse) not more than three stories in height with each dwelling having a separate means of egress.
