The Department of Agriculture shall be the lead agency for aquaculture development in this state. The department shall:

1. (1) Coordinate the activities of other state agencies with regard to aquaculture;
2. (2) act as a liaison between local and federal officials on matters related to aquaculture;
3. (3) serve as a liaison between government and the aquaculture industry.

History: June 30 Sp. Sess. P.A. 03-6 replaced Department of Agriculture with Department of Agriculture and Consumer Protection, effective July 1, 2004; P.A. 04-189 repealed Sec. 146 of June 30 Sp. Sess. P.A. 03-6, thereby reversing the merger of the Departments of Agriculture and Consumer Protection, effective June 1, 2004.
