Company and OCS facility personnel responsible for security duties must maintain a TWIC, and must have knowledge, through training or equivalent job experience, in the following, as appropriate:

1. (a) Knowledge of current and anticipated security threats and patterns.
2. (b) Recognition and detection of dangerous substances and devices;
3. (c) Recognition of characteristics and behavioral patterns of persons who are likely to threaten security;
4. (d) Recognition of techniques used to circumvent security measures;
5. (e) Security related communications;
6. (f) Knowledge of emergency procedures and contingency plans;
7. (g) Operation of security equipment and systems;
8. (h) Testing, calibration, and maintenance of security equipment and systems;
9. (i) Inspection, control, and monitoring techniques;
10. (j) Methods of physical screenings of persons, personal effects, stores and industrial supplies;
11. (k) Familiarity with all relevant aspects of the TWIC program and how to carry them out;
12. (l) Relevant provisions of the Facility Security Plan (FSP); and
13. (m) The meaning and the consequential requirements of the different MARSEC Levels.
