1. (a) The Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Director of the Bureau of Prisons, the Commissioner of the Federal Prison Industries, Inc., the Commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Justice Programs, the Director of the United States Marshals Service, and the Director of the Executive Office for United States Attorneys, as to their respective jurisdictions, and the Assistant Attorney General for Administration, as to all other organizational units of the Department, are authorized to:

   1. (1) Request Department of the Treasury designation of disbursing employees (including cashiers),
   2. (2) Approve waivers of the Department of the Treasury maximum limitation on routine payments of cash from imprest funds, and
   3. (3) Approve requests to place imprest funds in depositary cash demand withdrawal accounts and establish the maximum amount of each account.
2. (b) Guidelines are to be promulgated by each component for the establishment and maintenance of such accounts in accordance with the provisions set forth in the Treasury Financial Manual, Volume I, Part 4, Chapter 3000. Existing authorizations to request designations of disbursing employees shall remain in effect until terminated by the official who by this section would be authorized to request such designations.
