The Superintendent and the state board shall consider for membership on the commission persons representing subjects commonly taught in public schools, including:

1. (a) English.
2. (b) Social sciences.
3. (c) World languages.
4. (d) Science.
5. (e) Mathematics.
6. (f) Visual and performing arts.
7. (g) Applied arts.
8. (h) Conservation education.
