As used in this title:

1. (a) “Action” includes a civil action and a special proceeding of a civil nature.
2. (b) “Court” means the trial court in which the action is pending, unless otherwise specified.
3. (c) “Document” and “writing” mean a writing, as defined in Section 250 of the Evidence Code.
4. (d) “Electronic” means relating to technology having electrical, digital, magnetic, wireless, optical, electromagnetic, or similar capabilities.
5. (e) “Electronically stored information” means information that is stored in an electronic medium.
