(b) If requested verbally or in writing by the client or the client’s authorized agent because the animal is in critical condition or direct transfer to another veterinary premises for medical care is recommended, the veterinarian, upon release of the animal patient from the veterinarian’s care, shall either:

1. (1) Provide a copy or summary of the written record to the client or the client’s authorized agent.

2. (2) If a written record is not available upon release of the animal patient, communicate information to facilitate continuity of care of the animal patient either to:

   1. (A) The receiving veterinarian or veterinary premises.
   2. (B) The client or the client’s authorized agent if the receiving veterinary premises is unknown.
