1. (a) The Administrative Director adopts and incorporates by reference the Opioids Guidelines (ACOEM December 12, 2023) into the MTUS from the ACOEM Practice Guidelines.
2. (b) The Opioids Guidelines describes the appropriate use of opioid medications as part of an overall multidisciplinary treatment regimen for acute, sub-acute, post-operative, and chronic non-cancer pain. This guideline applies when the use of opioid medications is being considered as part of the treatment regimen.
