1. (a) In addition to complying with the requirements of Section 3317 and Table IL-1, there shall be an emergency or secondary lighting system which can be actuated immediately upon failure of the normal power supply system. The emergency or secondary lighting system shall provide illumination in at least the following areas:

   1. (1) Wherever it is necessary for workers to remain at their machine or station to shut down equipment in case of power failure;
   2. (2) In all plant first aid and/or medical facilities;
2. (b) Emergency lighting facilities shall be inspected at least every 30 days. Defective or inoperative equipment shall be repaired or replaced with an operating unit.
