1. (a) A hood shall be used that will cover the saw blade to at least the depth of the teeth or cover the cutting edge of the circular knife.
2. (b) The hood shall automatically adjust itself to the thickness of and remain in contact with the material being cut at the point where the stock encounters the saw or knife blade, or

3. (c) May be a fixed or manually adjusted hood or guard provided the space between the bottom of the guard and the material being cut does not exceed ½ inch.

   Exception: Circular crosscut saws with stationary table where the saw blade moves forward when cutting (e.g. cut-off saws and radial arm saws).
