Cal. Code Regs. tit. 8, § 3052 – Location and Guarding of Counterweights, and Guarding of Exposed Equipment.

(a) Where Required:
1. (1) The location and the guarding of counterweights, where provided, shall conform to Section 3013.
2. (2) The guarding of exposed equipment in the machine room and in the hoistway shall conform to the applicable requirements of Section 3014 and the following:
  1. (A) Pump drive belts and pulleys shall be guarded to protect against accidental contact when adjustments are made to adjacent valves or control components.
