Cal. Code Regs. tit. 8, § 1598
(a) Where a hazard exists to employees because of traffic or haulage conditions at work sites that encroach upon public streets or highways, a system of traffic controls in conformance with the “California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, January 13, 2012,” which is herein incorporated by reference and referred to as the “Manual”, published by the State Department of Transportation, shall be required so as to abate the hazard.
Note: Additional means of traffic control, such as continuous patrol, detours, barricades, or other techniques for the safety of employees may be employed.
