1. (a) Wood floors or subfloors in kitchens, laundry rooms, water heater compartments and any other interior areas subject to excessive moisture shall be made impervious to moisture by sealing with a listed and tested water resistant material, or by applying an overlay of approved nonabsorbent material applied with a listed and tested water resistant adhesive.
2. (b) Floors under heating appliances shall not be covered with flammable materials such as carpeting.
3. (c) Carpet and carpet pads shall not be installed in concealed spaces subject to excessive moisture such as under plumbing fixtures. Carpet and/or carpet pads shall not be installed beneath the bottom plate of shear or bearing walls.
