1. (a) A waste is a RCRA hazardous waste if it is listed in this article, unless it has been excluded from this list pursuant to 40 CFR sections 260.20 and 260.22 or is categorized as a non-RCRA hazardous waste pursuant to section 66261.101. Wastes shall only be listed in this article if they are listed in 40 CFR Part 261 Subpart D.

2. (b) The Department will indicate the USEPA Administrator's basis for listing the classes or types of wastes listed in this article by employing one or more of the following Hazard Codes:

   Ignitable Waste

   (I)

   Corrosive Waste

   (C)

   Reactive Waste

   (R)

   Toxicity Characteristic Waste

   (E)

   Acute Hazardous Waste

   (H)

   Toxic Waste

   (T)

   Appendix VII of this chapter identifies the constituent which caused the USEPA Administrator to list the waste as a Toxic Waste (T) as included in sections 66261.31 and 66261.32.

3. (c) Each RCRA hazardous waste listed in this article is assigned an EPA Hazardous Waste Number which precedes the name of the waste. This number shall be used in complying with the notification requirements of Health and Safety Code section 25153.6 and certain recordkeeping and reporting requirements under chapters 12 through 15, 18, and 20 of this division.
