1. (a) Nurse midwife services permitted under state law are covered when provided by a certified nurse midwife.

2. (b) Services are limited to:

   1. (1) The care of mothers and newborns through the maternity cycle of pregnancy, labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period, not to exceed six weeks.
   2. (2) Primary care as defined in Section 51170.5.
