1. (a) “Physician's assistant” means a person whom the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance has currently:

   1. (1) Certified as a primary health care, women's health care or emergency care physician's assistant.
   2. (2) Approved to perform direct patient care services under the supervision of a primary care physician approved by the Board.
