10-12 Leave and 10-26 Leave.

(a) This subsection shall apply to employees paid pursuant to section 599.612(a).
- (1) The appointing power may grant a leave of absence not to exceed two consecutive monthly pay periods during the period designated by the appointing power for release from performance of teaching duties for full-time permanent or probationary employees in positions requiring teacher certification qualifications. Such leaves do not require approval of the Department. Such leaves shall be without pay for persons employed and paid under the provisions of section 599.666 of these regulations and with deferred pay for persons employed and paid under the provisions of section 599.667(a) of these regulations.
- (2) Leaves of absence granted under the provisions of this section shall be counted as qualifying service for merit and special in-grade salary adjustments, for seniority, and for computation of months of total state service to determine a change in the monthly credit for vacation with pay. For all other purposes, leaves of absence granted under the provisions of this section shall not be counted as qualifying service.
(b) This subsection shall apply to employees paid pursuant to section 599.612(b).
