Cal. Code Regs. tit. 17, § 1034
(a) Applicants for licensure under Chapter 3 as a medical laboratory technician as specified in section 1030.6, clinical laboratory scientist as specified in sections 1030.7 and 1030.8, clinical laboratory scientist limited to a specialty or subspecialty as specified in sections 1030.10, 1030.15, 1030.16, and 1030.17, cytotechnologist as specified in sections 1061 and 1062, or another category of license established by the Department in regulation, must achieve satisfactory performance on an examination on California clinical laboratory law provided by the Department.
(b) Applicants for licensure under Chapter 3 as bioanalysts as specified in section 1030.20, clinical chemists as specified in section 1030.21, clinical microbiologists as specified in section 1030.21, clinical toxicologists as specified in section 1030.21, clinical cytogeneticists as specified in section 1030.25, clinical genetic molecular biologists as specified in section 1030.26, oral pathology laboratory directors as specified in section 1030.27, histocompatibility laboratory directors as specified in section 1209.1 of the Business and Professions Code, or another clinical laboratory master's or doctoral degree specialist category established by the Department in regulation, must achieve satisfactory performance on an in-person examination provided by the Department.
