1. (a) An automotive repair dealer shall not remove, paint over, or otherwise deface any label or sticker which has been affixed to the doorpost, dash, underhood, windshield, or other location on a vehicle, and which contains identifying information regarding the vehicle or its emission control system components. An automotive repair dealer shall replace any such label or sticker which would otherwise be destroyed as part of the repair process, unless the replacement label or sticker is not reasonably available.
2. (b) The above requirements shall apply to any label or sticker mandated by the bureau or other governmental agency as well as those included with the vehicle as part of its original manufacture and those added onto a vehicle as part of a manufacturer's authorized recall program.
