1. (a) A licensee who takes trade-in machineguns in the process of a sale of contemporary weapons, shall lawfully dispose of such weapons within eighteen months.

   1. (1) The licensee may apply for a longer period of retention by supplying the DOJ with an expression of interest by a qualified purchaser.
   2. (2) In no event shall such a machinegun be retained for a total of more than two years.
2. (b) The licensee shall be able to provide written documentation that the transfer was concluded. Failure to dispose of such machineguns may result in revocation of the machinegun license/permit.
