1. A. An individual is eligible to apply for initial certification as a mammographic technologist if the individual:

   1. 1. Is at least 18 years of age;
   2. 2. Possesses a current Department-issued certification in radiologic technology; and

   3. 3. Satisfies one of the following:

      1. a. Holds a current ARRT certification in mammography;
      2. b. Meets the initial training and education requirements in 21 CFR 900.12 and has a passing score on a Department-approved examination in mammography, or
      3. c. Meets the criteria in A.R.S. § 32-4302(A).

2. B. An individual certified as a mammographic technologist:

   1. 1. Shall follow the standards specified for Mammography in the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) Practice Standards for Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy, effective June 30, 2024, available at https://www.asrt.org/main/standards-and-regulations/professional-practice/practice-standards-online, incorporated by reference, on file with the Department, and including no future editions or amendments; and
   2. 2. May perform diagnostic mammography or screening mammography, as defined in A.R.S. § 30-651.
