1. A. Case control measures:

   1. 1. A diagnosing health care provider or an administrator of a health care institution, either personally or through a representative, shall:

      1. a. Institute isolation precautions as necessary for a case with carbapenem-resistant enterobacterales infection or colonization to prevent transmission; and
      2. b. If a case with carbapenem-resistant enterobacterales infection or colonization is being transferred to another health care provider or health care institution or to a correctional facility, comply with R9-6-305.

   2. 2. An administrator of a correctional facility, either personally or through a representative, shall:

      1. a. Institute isolation precautions as necessary for a case with carbapenem-resistant enterobacterales infection or colonization to prevent transmission; and
      2. b. If a case with carbapenem-resistant enterobacterales infection or colonization is being transferred to another correctional facility or to a health care institution, comply with R9-6-305.

   3. 3. A local health agency, in consultation with the Department, shall ensure that:

      1. a. A case with carbapenem-resistant enterobacterales infection or colonization is isolated as necessary to prevent transmission; and
      2. b. An isolate or a specimen, as available, from each case with carbapenem-resistant enterobacterales infection or colonization is submitted to the Arizona State Laboratory.

2. B. Outbreak control measures: A local health agency shall:

   1. 1. Conduct an epidemiologic investigation for each outbreak or suspected outbreak of carbapenem-resistant enterobacterales; and
   2. 2. For each outbreak or suspected outbreak of carbapenem-resistant enterobacterales, submit to the Department the information required under R9-6-206(E).
