1. A. When the local board approves applications for retirement, disability pensions, and survivor’s benefits, the claimant shall receive notification of the local board’s original determination either by attending the meeting at which the action was taken, by certified mail, or by receiving benefits from the system pursuant to the local board’s original action.
2. B. When the local board denies applications for retirement, disability pensions, and survivor’s benefits, the claimant shall receive notification of the local board’s original determination either by attending the meeting at which the action was taken or by certified mail. The notification shall include notification to claimant of the statutory right to apply for a rehearing on the original determination within 60 days after receipt of notification.
