1. 1. V-belt driven and not less than four V-belts with a designed safety factor of 10.
2. 2. Gear driven. Fiber gears shall not be used.
3. 3. Friction driven.

4. 4. Direct drive.

   There shall be no chain-driven hoists used for underground opera­tions. All hoists other than automatic hoists must have hand-oper­ated brakes and the brakes must be on the drum.
