(a)

1. (1) The Division of Youth Services Facilities Operations Coordinator shall:

   1. (A) Write a volunteer job description based on the referral form;
   2. (B) Carefully match a suitable volunteer to the job description;
   3. (C) Discuss the job assignment with the volunteer; and
   4. (D) Have the volunteer sign the VLS-015 and the appropriate confidentiality agreements during orientation.
2. (2) If the volunteer agrees to the assignment, the division Facilities Operations Coordinator shall file the original copies of these forms in the volunteer’s personnel record and give a copy to the volunteer.

(b) Confidentiality does not apply to communications by youth involving:

1. (1) Confessions or allegations of:

   1. (A) Abuse;
   2. (B) Neglect; or
   3. (C) Exploitation;
2. (2) An imminent escape; or
3. (3) Intentional harm to self or others.

(d)

1. (1) The Facility Services Liaison, in consultation with the division Clinical Director, may grant a volunteer access to confidential information to better serve the volunteer’s assigned youth.
2. (2) The Facility Services Liaison will schedule a meeting for the volunteer to meet with both the youth and the staff member who will monitor the assignment.

(e)

1. (1) The division Facilities Operations Coordinator shall make every effort to ensure fair and consistent treatment of each volunteer.
2. (2) If a volunteer feels the need to report an interaction that he or she experiences during a visit at a facility, he or she may report it to the Facility Services Liaison or the Facility Operations Coordinator for resolution.
