(a) To ensure the well-being of an infant, when abortion results in live birth, the Family Service Worker (FSW) will:
- (1) Place an immediate hold on the infant, regardless of the medical status of the infant;
- (2) Notify the Office of Chief Counsel immediately that a hold has been exercised to initiate a dependency petition;
- (3) Communicate with the current medical provider to determine the medical condition of the infant and to coordinate necessary medical services; and
- (4) Refer the child’s case to the Adoption Supervisor.
(b) The FSW Supervisor will:
- (1) Ensure the child’s case is referred to the Adoption Supervisor timely; and
- (2) Coordinate with Adoption Supervisor to ensure services for the child while transitioning to an appropriate preadoptive placement.
- (c) The Adoption Specialist will carry out the same actions as those listed for the Adoption Specialist in 9 CAR § 40-917.
- (d) The Adoption Supervisor will assign an Adoption Specialist within twenty-four (24) hours.
