(a)
- (1) The Division of Children and Family Services will coordinate with the Office of Child Support Enforcement of the Revenue Division of the Department of Finance and Administration to ensure that foster care cases are referred so that support can be paid to the Department of Human Services while the child remains in Department of Human Services custody.
- (2) Foster care cases in which paternity is an issue will also be identified and referred.
- (3) A referral for child support will be made for each parent involved in a foster care case meaning the parents from whom the child was removed, absent parents, and putative fathers.
(b)
- (1) The Family Service Worker will refer foster care cases to by completing the relationships screen in CHRIS with family-identifying information.
- (2) In addition, the Family Service Worker will provide information as needed and coordinate with the office after an office (IV-D) case is opened.
- (3) The CHRIS system generates the referral to the office after a child has been in foster care for thirty (30) days.
- (4) Once an office case is opened, office has responsibility to coordinate with the support payer and for arranging and paying for paternity testing.
(c)
- (1) Child support monies will be paid to and managed by the Department of Human Services.
- (2) Child support monies collected will be used to reimburse the state for foster care board payments and other expenses as appropriate.
