(a)
- (1) Each foster parent shall obtain at least fifteen (15) hours of training each year after the first year.
- (2) This does not apply to foster parents for infants who are in short-term foster care awaiting adoptive placement.
- (3) Such foster parents shall obtain ten (10) hours of training for the primary caregiver and five (5) hours of training for the secondary caregiver each year.
(b) Documentation verifying annual training shall indicate the:
- (1) Date;
- (2) Number of hours;
- (3) Name of the source;
- (4) Topic; and
- (5) Title.
(c)
- (1) Each foster parent shall maintain a current certificate of successful completion of hands-on, skill-based CPR and first aid.
- (2) Training and certification that is provided solely online will not be accepted.
(d) Foster parents shall participate in ongoing training to receive instruction that:
- (1) Supports their parental roles; and
- (2) Ensures the foster parent is up-to-date with agency and licensing requirements.
(e) Note. Annual training may include without limitation:
- (1) Child-specific training; or
- (2) Issues relevant to the general population of children in foster care.
Codification Notes: “CPR” means cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
