(a)

1. (1) If tools, tire chains, and/or tow chains are carried on the bus, a container of adequate strength and capacity may be provided.

2. (2) Such storage container may be located either inside or outside the passenger compartment but, if inside, it shall:

   1. (A) Have a cover (a seat cushion may not serve this purpose) capable of being securely latched; and
   2. (B) Be fastened to the floor convenient to either the service or the emergency door.

(b)

1. (1) Optional underneath storage space shall have a minimum of fifteen cubic feet (15 cu. ft.) of usable storage.
2. (2) A locking device shall secure each entrance to storage.
