(a)

1. (1) All metal used in construction of a bus body shall be zinc-coated or aluminum-coated or treated by an equivalent process before a bus is constructed.

2. (2) Included are such items as:

   1. (A) Structural members;
   2. (B) Inside and outside panels; and
   3. (C) Door panels and floor sills.

3. (3) Excluded are such items as:

   1. (A) Door handles;
   2. (B) Grab handles;
   3. (C) Interior decorative parts; and
   4. (D) Other interior plated parts.

(c) In providing for these requirements, particular attention shall be given to:

1. (1) Lapped surfaces;
2. (2) Welded connections of structural members;
3. (3) Cut edges;
4. (4) Punched or drilled hole areas in sheet metal;
5. (5) Closed or box sections unvented or undrained areas; and
6. (6) Surfaces subjected to abrasion during vehicle operation.
