Arkansas law requires that the following professional development be provided for educators:

1. (1) A public school district or open-enrollment public charter school shall provide no fewer than six (6) professional development days under 6 CAR § 183-103(12) in the basic contract for educators under Arkansas Code § 6-17-2402; and

2. (2) Institutions of higher education shall provide professional development within teacher preparation programs on:

   1. (A) Child maltreatment, under Arkansas Code § 6-61-133;
   2. (B) Dyslexia, under Arkansas Code § 6-41-609; and
   3. (C) Code of ethics, under Arkansas Code § 6-17-428.
