Teacher Excellence and Support System professional growth and support
Arkansas Code § 6-11-105; Arkansas Code § 6-17-2804
(a) A teacher and the evaluator, working together, shall annually develop a professional growth plan for the teacher that:
- (1) Identifies professional growth outcomes to advance the teacher’s professional skills; and
- (2) Clearly links personalized, competency-based professional learning opportunities to the professional growth outcomes.
(b) The professional growth plan may include, without limitation, the following professional development activities:
(1) Collaborating with a team of teachers on a shared plan that benefits:
- (A) The whole school;
- (B) A content area; or
- (C) A grade level;
- (2) Conducting self-directed research related to the teacher’s professional growth plan; or
- (3) Completing microcredentials approved by the Department of Education.
(c)
- (1) If a teacher and evaluator cannot agree on a professional growth plan, the evaluator’s decision shall be final.
- (2) For a teacher in intensive support status, the evaluator or an administrator designated by the evaluator shall have final approval of the teacher’s professional growth plan.
