An applicant may add the designation of Master Professional Educator to an Arkansas standard license in good standing by:
- (1) Completing the appropriate online application; and
(2) Providing the following with the online application:
- (A) Documentation of three (3) years of licensed teaching experience;
- (B) Verification that the applicant has performed at the level of an effective teacher as evidenced by the applicant’s most recent summative evaluation completed before applying for the license; and
(C) Documentation of one (1) of the following, receipt of one (1) of the following awards:
- (i) Arkansas Teacher of the Year;
- (ii) National Teacher of the Year;
- (iii) Out-of-state Teacher of the Year;
- (iv) Milken Educator Award;
- (v) Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching;
- (vi) Nationally approved award recognized by the State Board of Education;
- (vii) Board certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards that is a current certification at the time of application; or
(viii) Successful completion of:
- (a) (a) A master’s degree or higher in the content area or a master’s degree or higher and eighteen (18) graduate hours in the teacher’s content area, and successful completion of a Division of Elementary and Secondary Education-approved program; or
- (b) (b) Completion of an approved competency-based pathway aligned with standards adopted by the state board program.
