(a)

1. (1) A career-technical permit authorizes the permit holder to teach in an identified career or technical content area.
2. (2) An applicant must meet the requirements of the Division of Career and Technical Education for a career-technical permit.
3. (3) Career-technical permits are available in the following areas:

(b) A person applying for a career-technical permit shall submit to the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education:

1. (1) A completed application for licensure with payment of the nonrefundable application fee;
2. (2) Documentation that the applicant has successfully completed all background checks required by the Rules Governing Background Checks, 6 CAR pt. 194;

3. (3) Verification by the Division of Career and Technical Education that the applicant has completed the Department of Career Education requirements for the career-technical permit area, including without exception:

   1. (A) Transcript evidencing the awarding of a bachelor’s or higher degree in the career or technical area to be taught; or
   2. (B) A high school diploma or high school equivalency credential and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in the career or technical area to be taught; and

4. (4) Documentation of the completion of the professional development identified in Appendix B, which may be obtained:

   1. (A) From the applicant’s educator preparation program; or
   2. (B) By another method of delivery approved by the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education under the Rules Governing Professional Development, 6 CAR pt. 183.
