Student performance levels
Arkansas Code § 6-11-105; Arkansas Code § 6-11-112; Arkansas Code § 6-15-2905
(a)
- (1) The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education shall recommend and the State Board of Education shall approve performance levels for each state-required assessment administered to meet federal reporting requirements.
- (2) The performance levels shall include skills and competencies necessary for a student to be college-ready and career-ready by the completion of high school.
(b) The division shall recommend and the state board shall approve performance levels for:
- (1) English language arts;
- (2) Mathematics; and
- (3) Science.
- (c) The division shall recommend and the state board shall approve performance levels for the Arkansas Alternate Assessment Program for students with disabilities as part of the statewide student assessment system.
- (d) The division shall recommend and the state board shall approve performance levels to indicate the level of English language proficiency of all English learners.
(e)
(1) The division shall identify the literacy screeners required under 6 CAR § 60-104(b)(2) which:
- (A) Shall meet the requirements of Arkansas Code § 6-41-603; and
- (B) May be the same screener used for dyslexia screening.
(2)
- (A) The literacy screeners required under 6 CAR § 60-104(b)(2) shall be utilized to determine student progression in reading in kindergarten through grade three (K-3) and shall be:
(i) Given during the first thirty (30) days of the school year;
(ii) Repeated, if indicated, midyear; and
- (iii) Given at the end of the school year.
- (B) The division shall collect and publish aggregated public school district, open-enrollment public charter school, and overall state literacy assessment results annually by October 1.
